Empowering young adults to make it on their own.

MIOMO is here to set young adults off on the right path, with a great attitude, plus some essential tools and skills to make the most of their bright futures!

History

MIOMO was founded by Yvonne Godfrey in 2009 to help young people on their journey to adult independence. After 11 years working with 16-24 year olds, and a stint as a host parent on the reality TV show, The World’s Strictest Parents, Yvonne has become a widely consulted family coach and young adult guru.

Yvonne has spoken at schools, in the media, and at conferences. She is a gifted communicator and won the Corporate Events Professional Speaker of the Year, People’s Choice Award in 2009 and 2010.

New Ownership in July 2020

In July 2020, Every Nation Auckland City (ENAC) purchased Making It On My Own (MIOMO) with the intention of building on the strong foundations laid by Yvonne- over 500 young adults have completed the programme to date!

ENAC retains the mission to equip young people to reach their full potential in a non-religious manner, using the considerable experience of listening and guiding young adults over the last 20 years. We are privileged to have Yvonne as a valued Board Member for the foreseeable future.

Specifically, ENAC’s experience comes from operating through student clubs at the main universities in Auckland, guided by L.I.F.E core values: Leadership, Integrity, Faith and Excellence.

Wee-Yeong Eyou

Executive Director of MIOMO

Born in Malaysia, Wee-Yeong immigrated to New Zealand over 25 years ago. Married to Reeta, they have two boys – Elyas (12) and Levi (10).

His passion to see the next generation of New Zealanders thrive, drives him to impart values and skills that set young people up for success in all areas of life. To complement this, he also aims to equip parents with extra tools that lead their young adults to independence successfully.

After completing a conjoint degree majoring in technology and management at the University of Auckland, Wee-Yeong started his 20-year career in consulting, risk management, youth mentoring and non-profit leadership.

However, in 2014, Wee-Yeong concentrated his focus on working with the emerging generation of young adults, culminating in his appointment as a Next Generation Pastor. He’s thrilled to add the lead role at MIOMO to his record of helping others reach their potential.
