Empowering young adults to make it on their own.

MIOMO has been setting young adults up for independence for over 10 years. Through this inspiring four-day, secondary school and university holiday programme, young adults will be equipped to become responsible contributors to society.

This is done by inspiring leaders and teaching modules in small-group settings that include: Time, Space and Energy; Independence; Achieving Goals; Healthy Relationships and more.

Foundations

MIOMO was founded by Yvonne Godfrey in 2009 to help young people on their journey to adult independence. Under her leadership, over 500 young adults have graduated from the programme.

Eleven years of working with 16 to 24-year-olds have seen Yvonne become a widely consulted Family Coach, Speaker and Young Adult Guru. She is a popular Media Personality and Commentator, even featuring in an early episode of Australian reality TV show, The World’s Strictest Parents!

For her earlier work speaking at schools, events and conferences, Yvonne won the Corporate Events Professional Speaker of the Year, People’s Choice Award in 2009 and 2010.

Yvonne has also authored two books since 2015: Making It On My Own; 52 Ways to Smash It In the Real World and Parenting Yadults: How to Set Up Your Young Adult for Success and Independence In Life.

Yvonne is now a valued Board Member of MIOMO.

New Leadership in July 2020

In July 2020, Wee-Yeong Eyou was thrilled to pick up the leadership mantle at MIOMO. The Malaysian-born Kiwi and father of two is passionate about seeing the next generation of New Zealanders thrive. This drives him to impart values and skills that set young people up for success in all areas of life- teachings that are accomplished through the MIOMO four-day programme.

To complement young adults’ success, he also aims to equip parents with extra tools that lead their young adults to independence successfully.

Wee-Yeong’s work history is one of leadership and mentoring in both the corporate and non-profit worlds. After completing a conjoint degree majoring in technology and management at the University of Auckland, Wee-Yeong started his 20-year career in consulting, risk management, youth mentoring and non-profit leadership.

However in 2014, he concentrated his focus on working with the emerging generation of young adults, culminating in his appointment as a Next Generation Pastor with Every Nation Auckland City (ENAC).

It was this organisation that purchased MIOMO and appointed Wee-Yeong to both lead it and build on the strong foundations laid by Yvonne.

ENAC retains the mission to equip young people to reach their full potential in a non-religious manner. The organisation is simply available to lend support to MIOMO through experience operating student clubs at the main universities in Auckland, and its foundation of L.I.F.E. core values: Leadership, Integrity, Faith and Excellence.
