This quote by It was shared with me by a mentor when I was 22 years-old. I was feeling like a victim of other people’s decisions, not realising that everyone gets opportunities, and everyone experiences hardship in life. It’s how we approach life that makes the difference.
Let’s first understand the relationship between our conscious and subconscious thinking. According to the late philosopher Brian Tracy, your subconscious mind is like a huge, fertile memory bank that uses the ‘data’ you take in through your conscious mind to programme it. Once programmed – your subconscious mind operates automatically.
So clearly, we want to choose ‘data’ that builds our capacity and character. If we’re doing the opposite, what do you think the result will be?
In Smart Way #19 you can go through a checklist to see what kind of things you’re feeding your brain. Are you reading something Informative and inspiring each day or simply falling into easy, trashy magazines and gossipy social media? At 22, when I realised all this, I started to choose carefully. For the past 40 years, I have spent around 30 mins to an hour a day, feeding my mind with uplifting material. Do the same and you’ll find yourself becoming a mentally bigger, more capable, resilient and successful person.
